The epitome of creative design projects for most graphic designers.
The combination of a large format, single, pointed message, and an emphasis on highly visual communication brings great opportunity for open creative thinking and experimentation with a range of visual styles.
It doesn’t surprise me that our designers delivered some of their best work with our latest poster design series.
Every few months I ask the design team to produce a poster for our office entryway using a defined set of attributes. My direction for this latest series was to design a travel poster with the following requests:
- Highlight a Portland landmark or characteristic
- Render the poster style reminiscent of travel posters from the 30s, 40s, or 50s
- Integrate typography including Portland or Oregon and your chosen theme
Each designer came up with their own theme and copy, and they researched period design, rendering styles, and typography. The results speak for themselves.
Cheers to our designers! And come visit Portland!
